Damn, we just jammed most of the day at random places until 3 in the morning. Hahaha. The Niners game was on, they had a chance to win but they blew it.

I'm Back! Sarah Palin and the Warriors.

Posted by Young Verde on Saturday, November 8, 2008

Damn, I keep going in and out with this blog; I post in it, stop for a couple months, and then start posting again. I'll try posting on this shit more consistently from now on.

Anyways, Sarah Palin supposedly wants a recount on votes after watching a Golden State Warriors game. She doesn't know anything about the NBA but the team reminded her how she forgot about California. CLICK HERE to read the whole story.

And damn, I really need to change the layout on this blog but i'm too lazy. It looks hella weird for some reason.

Mistah FAB Talks About the Warriors

Posted by Young Verde on Wednesday, July 30, 2008

With all the changes that have happened to the Golden State Warriors this offseason, many people in the Bay Area are talking. Here's a video of rapper Mistah FAB giving out a few words about his hometown team:

Biedrins Re-Signs With Golden State!

Posted by Young Verde on Sunday, July 27, 2008

Good job makin the kids happy, Andris!

A TRUE WARRIOR!
With limited cash left on their hands, the Warriors organization had a little scare as to if Biedrins would decide stay with the team or not. There were even rumors of Biedrins thinking of joining a team in Europe, since a couple Euroleague teams were offering him contracts worth over 10 million for each year. Biedrins made the right decision and stayed with Golden State, the deal is said to be worth $63 million over the next 6 years. Now for a sigh of relief, the Warriors have locked up their future of the franchise in Monta and Andris.

MY BAD!
As for my day, I feel a little bad about what happened in the morning. I was shopping at Southland Mall today, gettin some new shirts. So i'm in this store, and this girl that works there is helping me with some clothes; she then asks me if I needed any more help and I tell her that i'm fine.

I look back at the clothes rack, and then she busts out saying "Copycat!". I look back at her, and then she shows me her phone, and she says "I have that on mine too."

My phone, with the ornament thingy. (thx to kencbruh for takin the picture, ha)

So, I realize that we both have a 'Winnie-the-Pooh" type of ornament thingy (sorry, I don't really know exactly what it's called) attached to our phones. What a coincidence. I was like "Oh, haha. That's great. Where'd you get yours from?". She tells me she got hers from Chinatown, and then she goes on with some other stuff, but I forgot what she said. So... as she's talking to me, I turn my head the other way showing her that I don't care. She see's me doing so, and then she hella pauses in the middle of her sentence. She stopped with what she was saying and just walks away hella sad (at least I think she was sad.. or mad).

I swear though, I don't know why I did that. I never act like an asshole towards people, but for some reason I did at that moment. It's not like she was even bothering me, something just took over me. Anyways, it was probably because I only had about 3 hours of sleep the night before; I guess no one should be shopping at the mall half asleep like I did. But yeah, my bad.

=[

=====================================

THE FESTIVAL
So, later on in the day I went to my church's annual weekend festival. I gotta say man, too many boppers over there. I'm not gonna hate though, there were a lot of 'cool' people from my school as well; but you soon realize that there were like 100 teenagers at the spot, and most weren't even doing anything. I mean, these people are at a festival, yet they just stand around among one another just to be there and talk.

I'm not saying that 'talking' is bad, i'm also not trying to say that i'm the type of person that hates on how people act; it's just that it's weird for me when I see people being somewhere, 'just to be there'... you know what i'm sayin? It's as if people just go there thinking, "Aw man, i'm cool because i'm at the popular spot to be at right now". I felt like I was on the set of the movie "The Fast and the Furious", except without the cars; basically a bunch of teenagers just standing around talking.

Replace all those white people with teenage asians, add numerous unvisited game booths around them, and VIOLA! You get a clear picture of what the festival looked like.

But yeah anyways, me and a couple of my homies went to a chill spot at the festival were there weren't that many people. My homies had their ukes, so we had to find a place where we can jam. I'm hella mad though, that jam was crackin but I couldn't film because my camcorder ran out of battery, hahahah. We had people in our group playing numerous songs on the ukulele while other's sang the lyrics. I know, you're probably thinking that that's hella corny and gay, but it was hella clean since there were hella people jammin; it would have made for a chill video. oh well. We went to another spot to jam, but it was dead, plus the weather got hella cold so we decided to head out to Union Landing, and then to AJ's house later on.

And the Signings Continue!

Posted by Young Verde on Friday, July 25, 2008

Welcome to the Bay!

Anthony Morrow, the 6'5" guard from Georgia Tech went undrafted in 2008, but surprised Chris Mullin as he shot lights out for the Warriors Summer League team. Shooting 69% from long range in the SL, his performance has given him the opportunity to be on Golden State roster. The team is getting crowded, so this guy will definitely have to work hard in order to earn some playing time this season.

Listen to his interview on KNBR (6/25/08), HERE.

Andris Biedrins to Europe?

Posted by Young Verde on

Is Biedrins bored here in the United States?!?!

Obviously, this isn't a matter of 'being bored', it's about the $$$. Many teams in the NBA would love to have Andris on their team, but Golden State is the only team with the money and willingness to offer Biedrins a big contract. Biedrins' options in the NBA are limited, as the only team he can likely join is Golden State; the problem here, is that there are European teams that are said to be offering the young player even more money to play for them overseas.

After the recent acquisition of many certain players, the Warriors are left with a budget on how much money they can offer Andris. If left unhappy with a low contract offer, a situation where Biedrins bolts to Europe may be possible.

We all know that Biedrins loves being a Warrior, he's a down to Earth guy and I doubt he would let money get to his head; I would be shocked if he ended up playing overseas. For now, everything is just talk and many Ws fans are skeptical about the words about AB leaving. I'm just spreading what I hear, since a source close to the 5 year center has spoken about this European involvement.

Oh yeah and one more thing I almost forgot to mention!

ELIMINATED!!

haha damn! I hated how they were "too cocky" most of the time (Yung Keyz reference!), but I rooted for them and had to show love for a fellow Bay Area group. As you all may have noticed already, i'm crazy about everything that has to do with the Bay Area (except for the homo sexual barrage at San Francisco). The thing is, I always root for underdogs (Like the Warriors), but SS would sometimes be too full of themselves; which is okay I guess, if you have the skills you might as well show it off, right?

So yeah, i'll leave you all with a Youtube video showcasing the famous battle between Supreme Soul and the JabbaWockeez. The thing I hate about this whole "beef" between them, is that fans are starting to make it into a whole "Nor Cal vs. So Cal" rivalry, and you hear people claiming that So Cal is better since the JabbaWockeez never got eliminated.

Reminds me of classic Warriors vs. Lakers "Bay Area vs. Los Angeles" basketball games in the NBA, always a fun to watch. Aight, i'm out for now, I only got 6 hours to sleep before I gotta get up and get ready for some random family occasion.

Warriors re-sign Ellis to multi-year deal.

Posted by Young Verde on Thursday, July 24, 2008

Ellis got his money!!

No more worrying about Ellis signing with another team; the Warriors officially re-signed Ellis to a multi-year deal, terms of the agreement were not announced yet. The 2005 2nd round draft pick has quickly risen as one of the most talented players in the league.

==================================

In other Warriors news, the Warriors have matched the Clippers offer for Kelenna Azubuike; Kelenna is now officially 'still' a Warrior! This also means that the Warriors will no longer be signing Maurice Evans (mentioned in my previous post).

Have no fear, female Warrior fans... Buike's biceps are still here!

==================================

The Golden State Warriors still weren't done for the day, as they also signed their 2008 2nd round pick, Richard Hendrix to a contract.

Welcome to the NBA, Jimmy- err, I mean, RICHARD Hendrix.
==================================

Anyways, pretty good evening for the Warriors; they got Monta locked up for the next 6 years, and now Azubuike is on our roster instead of on the Clippers!

==================================

As for me (anyone care? LOL), I had to get up hella early to go to SF to visit family. I barely even did anything there, just stayed at their house for 5 hours watching "Little Rascals" and playing on their Super Nintendo. Got back to the Une, got on my XBOX (Hell yeah! That Super Nintendo hella had me appreciating the XBOX more, ahahah), babysitted for an hour and then went off to Union Landing. I spent like 2 hours just sitting around in Starbucks with a couple homies, even though the only thing we ordered was 'venti' ice water, ha. Had nothing to do for the rest of the day, so we just bought some chicken wings from Luckies and rented a movie.

HAAAAAAAAAAA, a black movie.
(Not being racist here, just pointed out the fact that this film is made for a black audience, kinda)

Anyways, it was alright. I give it a 6/10 for an overall rating, and a 3/5 if I were to rate the comedy in the movie. It was surprisingly 'somewhat' emotional near the end, and it had a good ending. We had a decision to rent and watch either the movie Roscoe Jenkins, or 30 Days of Night (Which is a horror movie). My homeboy was telling me to decide which movie to watch between the two, and was all like, "Man, do you want 'FUNNY', or do you want 'SCARY'? Do you want to LAUGH, or do you want to CRY?". LOL wtf, scary movies don't make you cry, they make you scream (for most people).. hahaha. After the movie, I went home, and then chilled at another homie's house.

But yeah, that's about it for now. I'm bouta finish watching America's Best Dance Crew.

A Lot of New Things

Posted by Young Verde on Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Ayeee! So yeah, it's been 'Hao Long' (inside joke) since I last made a
post on this blog?!? LOL, even though it's almost been a year, I bet
there's only been 10 or so views on this blog during its long period of
delay.. ha. I had to wake up hella early this morning to get ready for
the busy day ahead... I ended up with nothing to do for the first 2
hours of my morning (besides eating breakfast, shower, etc); At the
first sign of boredom I just decided that I should log onto this mess
and give it another go around, I got nuthin else to do for now. So yeah,
here goes.

"A new start, new faces, new drama, and a new music video!"

New Warriors for a New Era
So, unless you've been living under a rock the whole summer, everyone in the Bay Area should already know by now that Baron Davis of our hometown Warriors decided to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers. Apparently, he was looking for a contract extension with Golden State, but the Warriors weren't committed to keeping him on a long term deal. Instead of signing with Golden State, Baron found a team dumb enough to pay him $65 million over the next 5 years (The Clippers). So I guess, rather than spending all of our money towards Baron, Chris Mullin decides to spend it on these group of players:

Corey Maggette (5 years, $50 million)

Ahh, for some reason or another, this guy keeps reminding me of the
rapper (and host of MTV's 'Pimp My Ride') Xzibit. lol. Maggette has a
real boring game, but his efficiency on the court should make up for it.
Damn though, 50 million is really pricey, even for a guy with his skillset;
GS overpayed a little to attain him, but hopefully it's worth
it.

=======================================

Ronny Turiaf (4 years, $17 million)

Heart, Hustle, and Energy... three words that perfectly describes
Turiaf. We're basically paying 17 million for a player coming off the
bench, but his scrappy play, hardwork, and intangibles makes this
signing worth the price. An inspirational individual he is as well, he
had to undergo heart surgery early in his career and was told he can
never play basketball again; luckily for him, things turned out in his
favor and he's in 100% shape to hoop.

Ronny can get 'hyphy' all he wants, now that he's in the Bay!

=======================================

Maurice Evans (3 years, $6.4 million)

There's not really much that I can say about this player, I haven't been
following his games and have rarely seen him in action. All I know is
that he's basically a spark off the bench that can provide perimeter
defense and 3 point shooting. Seems like a decent signing, we got him
for a good price.

=======================================

Marcus Williams (, 3 million)

At the wake of Baron Davis' departure, the Warriors have quickly found themselves a quality young player who can help to make up for the loss of Baron's playmaking ability. Although not signed as a free agent, Williams was traded from New Jersey to Golden State for a future 1st
round draft pick. He's a young point guard that will definitely flourish
in Don Nelson's system.

=======================================

Ultimately... with Baron Davis, Matt Barnes, Kelenna Azubuike and Mickael Pietrus all gone, the Warriors quickly found 4 useful players to add to the roster. IMO the bench so far looks to be greater than the bench of last season; the overall roster seems much more deeper than before. You never know what else Mullin has up his sleeve, though; I'm still expecting a couple more signings/trades this offseason.

WNBA Brawl?? More Drama at the Palace!
So I got home late last night and ended up finding something hilarious online. I have a sports website set as my homepage on Firefox (www.realgm.com); as I log onto the site, I notice a headline about some sort of altercation between the females over at the WNBA. I search the net and end up finding this video:

There are better quality videos of the 'brawl' online, but this was the first video of the fight to be uploaded on Youtube.

HAHAHA, this is probably the first time I've ever seen something
exciting in the WNBA. The Los Angeles Sparks had some sort of fight with the Detroit Shock and the Palace of Auburn Hills. Who knows, this could have even been some sort of publicity stunt to get more people to watch and talk about women's basketball!

I cannot lie though, being the hardcore basketball fan I am, I do catch myself watching the WNBA sometimes. All I gotta say is Candace Parker is a beast on the court (I say that as a compliment). She's not even one of those 'manly' type of WNBA players, her face seems to resemble Beyonce's face if you take a couple looks at her. The surprising thing, this girl actually beat Josh Smith and JR Smith in a dunk contest, while the three were in high school, LOL.

The Jacka - "All Over Me" (Music Video)

Finally, a new music video. I gotta say, I've never really seen a music video like this before; the cropped video clips in this vid is real unique... it gives off a real creative vibe on the overall look of the video. Reminds me of a mosaic, hah.

So yeah, that's basically it for now. I'll save this post and post it
later on today. Expect this blog to be a little more active from now on,
I'm gonna try to start posting on here whenever there's downtime,
hahaha.

The Hyphy Movement 2006

Posted by Young Verde on Thursday, November 15, 2007

Damn I was planning on leaving this blog in the dust, but I decided that ima keep posting on here.

Man, what a great year 2006 was for the Bay Area. Watching this video had me remembering all the songs that were out back then. All of them still slaps.

Oh yeah, anyone remember "Sideshows"???

It's crazy out here bruh. Things haven't been poppin that much recently, but guys like Mistah F.A.B., Clyde Carson, Ya Boy, The Pack, The A'z and more are on their way up. The movement aint dead.

.

Testing out this blog.

Posted by Young Verde on Saturday, September 1, 2007

Welcome to the blog. I'm inviting all Warriors fans and Warriors haters to feel free to read my blog and comment. I especially want the haters to come through and read, since i'll probably be making posts about common misconceptions people always talk about when it comes to this team.

Man. So yeah it's the offseason and anything basketball related going on right now is boring as hell. Watching Team USA in the FIBA qualifying tournament is interesting, but it gets boring watching them blow out team after team... where's the competition man?? I can't wait for this upcoming season to start, the team has a lot of things to prove. People are still considering us a fluke team, that we don't play defense, that we took a HUGE step back when we got rid of J-Rich, that Monta Ellis is overrated ever since his bad showing in the playoffs, that Stephen Jackson is a cancer etc. etc. etc.

I've been really pissed with what i've heard from people about what they think about Golden State. We've just pulled of the greatest upset in NBA Playoff history and most of the other basketball fans out there still don't expect us to make the playoffs this upcoming season. Most of those guys consider us to be next year's Clippers. Remember when the Clippers made it to the second round in 06, and then disappeared since?? I'm tellin you guys right now, that's not how Golden State will end up. We're back for good.

Another thing I want to mention... I grew up and reside in the Bay Area, I rep it to the fullest. I'll be blogging about the local music going on here as well. That's for all of you outsiders that don't understand this Hyphy Movement. I'm not going to try to convince anyone to like the music, i'll just be posting my opinion on things.
